The dealership was originally a Mercedes-Benz dealer in Paris and was purchased by the Graupner brothers in the 1960s. Porsche bought the dealership in 1969 and the four brothers brought the dealership to the United States in 1980. The dealership ended up at 5860 S.E. Murphy Rd. in Portland, Oregon in 1982. The dealership was open for 22 years in Portland and the 3 brothers, all retired, all became Porsche owners. The Berlinetta was available through the dealership in the early 80s but the inventory was limited to 3 or 4 cars and the demand was quite high. At one point the dealership had a waiting list of over 100 people hoping to buy one of these very rare cars. The Berlinetta was available as a 2-door coupe or 4-door saloon with the iconic three-spoke wheel. The factory color was Swiss Light Grey. This one is originally white with a tan interior. The Berlinetta was developed from the Porsche 906 series of cars and while not many people realize it was actually the final evolution of the car that was designed by Ferdinand Porsche and built at what would become his only design studio, the Porsche Stuttgart factory. The 906 models included the 1963 1.9 liter two-seat Targa, a long wheelbase version of the Targa and the 1.6 liter Targa (that had a mid-mounted engine). The 906 series was introduced in 1966.
